As a trained statistician, psychologist and epidemiologist, I believe that multidisciplinary initiatives like the LMU Open Science Center are very important to promote open science practices. Moreover, we do not only need to promote transparency in research, but also to provide guidance on how to apply research methods in a way that will improve the replicability of research findings. In my teaching and in my research, I try to foster open science practices by providing guidance on pre-registration, adjustment for multiple testing and other ways to deal with analytical choices in the analysis of empirical data. In my consulting activities, I try to promote the use of suitable methods to model the complexities of research projects and to improve the communication of research findings. Overall, I think that it is more important than ever that we make research as transparent, credible and reliable as possible.
Chair
Anna Sophie Kümpel
Prof. Dr. | Social Sciences
As a Professor of Communication, I bring a strong commitment to advancing Open Science in a field grappling with replicability and trust issues. I co-authored An Agenda for Open Science in Communication and promote transparency across both quantitative and qualitative methods. I aim to contribute disciplinary insight and advocate for inclusive, field-sensitive OS practices within the LMU Open Science Center.
Chair

Prof. Dr. | Medicine
Reproducible studies are the basis of science, but reproducibility rates are still low, specifically in the field of experimental medicine. I would like to continue my service on the OSC Board to improve this situation by further developing the OSC, providing training to my fellow scientists and trainees, and improving standards of research at the Medical Faculty and beyond.
Researcher
Tobias Straub
Dr. | Medicine
As a data analyst working with a wide range of biomedical research groups at the Martinsried campus, I have been committed to promoting Open Science for more than two decades—through both collaboration and teaching. I would like to contribute to establishing the Open Science Center as a strong and visible hub for the entire university. My focus is on shaping training and support structures that accommodate diverse disciplinary needs and on fostering sustainable strategies for the long-term success of the Center.
