Apply to attend either or both tracks (in-person or online)

You can apply for Track 1, Track 2, or both, by filling out the application form before 14 July 2025, 12:00 noon CEST. Applicants will be notified of the results of their application by July 21. If selected or wait-listed, you will have to confirm your spot by July 30.

The in-person part of the school will take place in Philologicum Library, Ludwigstraße 25, 80539 München, Germany. The online part will be on Zoom. We are unable to provide travel grants.

Apply to attend Track 1 “Open Science knowledge and skills”

Selected applicants of Track 1 are expected to attend all sessions from Monday 15.09.2025 9:00 to Friday 19.09.2025 14:30.

Target audience: early career researchers of any scientific disciplines (e.g. Medical sciences, Social Sciences, Life Sciences) who are Open Science novices (e.g., advanced Masters students, PhD students, postdocs).
Selection criteria: Clear motivations and ideas about where to integrate these news skills in your own research. At equal scores, LMU members or upcoming LMU members will be favored over external students and researchers.
Certificate of attendance: You will automatically receive a certificate of attendance following your participation.
Note: In previous years, we received over 100 applications for 40 seats in this track. Please keep our selection criteria in mind when writing your application.

Apply to attend Track 2 “Open Science instructor training”

Selected applicants of Track 2 are expected to attend all sessions from Friday 19.09.2025 14:30 to 17:30.

Target audience: early career researchers or research support staff interested in becoming Open Science instructors.
Eligibility criteria: Proof of acquired Open Science knowledge and skills (e.g. application for Track 1, certificate of attendance to previous Open Science training, link to open research resources such as a GitHub repository, FAIR dataset, or preregistration).
Selection criteria: Clear motivations. At equal scores, those with a concrete plan for delivering an Open Science workshop and LMU members will be favored.
Certificate of attendance: You will automatically receive a certificate of attendance following your participation.
Certificate of Open Science teaching skills: After joining this track, you will have the opportunity to put your new skills into practice and co-deliver a workshop at LMU (e.g. in your department) on an Open Science topic of your choice before August 2026. If you choose to do so, the LMU Open Science Center will support you during the planning, preparation and delivery of the workshop with hands-on feedback and practical tips. After your workshop delivery, you will receive an additional certificate of Open Science teaching skills.

Anyone can register at any time before the end of the summer school to attend one, multiple, or all lectures online.
